Citizen Sport Luxury AT8260-51M

Looks sophisticated. Does a lot. Asks surprisingly little of you.

The AT8260-51M combines Citizen’s light-powered Eco-Drive system with Atomic Timekeeping. In everyday use, that means no regular battery changes, exceptional time accuracy, and a perpetual calendar that keeps track of the date automatically. It’s remarkably low-maintenance for a watch with this much going on.

Why this watch stands out

This is the kind of watch that earns its busy dial. The complexity isn’t there just for looks. It gives you world time across 26 time zones, a 1/20-second chronograph, day and date, 12/24-hour time and a power reserve display. Add a sapphire crystal, stainless steel construction and 100-meter water resistance, and it’s built to be worn, not babied.

What does all of this actually do?

• Eco-Drive: Powered by light, so there’s no regular battery-change routine.
• Atomic Timekeeping: Synchronizes with radio time signals where reception is available, helping the watch stay exceptionally accurate.
• World Time: Select from 26 time zones using the city codes around the dial.
• Chronograph: A stopwatch that measures down to 1/20 of a second and times up to 60 minutes.
• Perpetual Calendar: Keeps track of changing month lengths and leap years once properly set.
• Power Reserve: Lets you check how much stored energy remains.
• 12/24-Hour Time: Gives you an at-a-glance 24-hour time display.

Our take

If you like the look and functionality of a complicated watch but don’t want complicated ownership, this is where the AT8260-51M gets interesting. The dial has plenty happening, but much of that technology is working to make the watch easier to live with. It’s precise, practical and just technical enough to reward a second look.

Best for

Someone who wants serious functionality and accuracy with the feel of a traditional watch, not another screen on their wrist. The sky-blue dial also gives this one more personality than the usual black-or-navy technical watch.

Know before you buy

At 43mm, this isn’t a small watch. And the dial is intentionally information-rich. If you want minimal and quiet, this probably isn’t your Citizen. If you like a watch that gives you something new to notice every time you look at it, that’s exactly the point.
