The MR-G MRG-B5000B-1 takes the original square G-SHOCK into the realm of precision metalwork. Its black finish recalls the first DW-5000C, right down to the brick-pattern display surround and red accent line. But the bezel is now made from 25 individually polished parts, with a hard, glossy Cobarion alloy top, a titanium-alloy case and a titanium-alloy bracelet engineered for strength and careful finishing.

A multi-guard structure protects the intricately assembled bezel while preserving G-SHOCK's shock resistance. Solar charging, radio-controlled timekeeping and Bluetooth adjustment keep the familiar digital watch easy to live with. Sapphire crystal and 200-meter water resistance round out the construction. This is the square for someone who wants to keep the original G-SHOCK's unmistakable design while experiencing it in markedly different materials.

G-SHOCK, the watch that brought the new concept of toughness to the timepiece.
It began with a reckless challenge to the conventional wisdom of the day, a developer’s belief that it was possible to construct a watch that wouldn’t break, even if dropped. Project Team Tough was formed to build it in 1981.
The team created over 200 prototypes one after another over a period of about two years. They finally arrived at a shock-resistant structure. This marked the birth of a technology that is tough to the core.
