Seiko Prospex U.S. Special Edition SPB421

This U.S. Special Edition Prospex takes its dial inspiration from a remarkable place: the icy underwater moulins of Alaska. Its pressed pattern and graduated deep-blue color suggest ice and water below the surface, while the case draws on Seiko's first diver from 1965. It's one of a trio of editions inspired by challenging American dive locations.

The blue unidirectional bezel tracks elapsed time, and luminous hands and markers help with reading the dial in low light. A 40.5 mm stainless-steel case and bracelet with super-hard coating, sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating, screw-down crown and caseback, and bracelet extender support its 200-meter scuba-diving rating. Seiko's automatic 6R35 movement offers hand winding and approximately 70 hours of power reserve.

Our Take

The Alaska inspiration gives this blue diver a much more specific story than “ocean-colored dial.” We like the contrast between its icy texture and the warm familiarity of Seiko's 1965-inspired case.
