About this watch

The Seiko 5 Sports Field GMT HDB001 pairs a green dial with a stainless-steel bracelet and a second time zone you can read at a glance. The extra 24-hour hand tracks home time while the main hands show local time.

Why this watch stands out

It puts a second time zone into a field-watch layout, with a clean dial, a date window and LumiBrite hands and indexes. The 24-hour hand sets independently, so changing zones never means touching the rest of the watch.

What you're getting

  • 39.4 mm stainless-steel case: 13.6 mm thick and 47.9 mm lug to lug.
  • Green dial with date window: LumiBrite hands and indexes for low-light reading.
  • Caliber 4R34 automatic: Also hand-winds, with 24 jewels and about 41 hours of power reserve.
  • GMT function: A 24-hour hand that sets independently of the hour hand.
  • Curved Hardlex crystal: Tough and built for daily wear.
  • 100 m water resistance: With a see-through screw-down case back.
  • 20 mm stainless-steel bracelet: Three-fold clasp with push-button release.

Know before you buy

Set the local time with the hour hand and the GMT hand to home time. The two move independently, and the 4R34 also hacks, so you can set it to the second.

Seiko's journey, which began in 1881, is a remarkable story of vision, innovation, and dedication. When Kintaro Hattori, a 21-year-old entrepreneur, opened his small shop in Tokyo’s bustling Ginza district, he laid the foundation for what would become one of the world’s most respected watchmaking companies. Initially, Hattori focused on selling and repairing watches and clocks, but his ambition was far greater. He envisioned creating timepieces that would not only be precise but also reflect the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship.
In 1892, just over a decade after opening his shop, Hattori took a significant step forward by founding Seikosha, a factory dedicated to producing wall clocks. The name "Seikosha" means "House of Exquisite Workmanship," and it represented Hattori’s commitment to quality. By 1913, Seikosha had produced Japan’s very first wristwatch, the Laurel, marking a historic milestone for both the company and the nation’s watchmaking industry.
