The Heritage 1973 has a broad, rounded case that immediately sets it apart from a conventional round chronograph. Tissot reference T124.427.16.031.01 pairs a silver dial with brown leather, letting the seventies-inspired shape do much of the talking.

Why this watch stands out

The Swiss automatic chronograph includes a date display and stopwatch counters. Its stainless steel case measures 43mm wide, 46.6mm long and 14.8mm thick. Sapphire crystal with antireflective coating protects the dial; a see-through caseback reveals the movement. The brown leather strap closes with a butterfly clasp with push-buttons. Made in Switzerland, with water resistance rated to 100 meters and a catalog weight of 125 grams.

Our take

The case shape is our reason to look at this Heritage rather than a more conventional chronograph. Brown leather gives the silver dial a warmer setting. This is a substantial mechanical watch: the 14.8mm thickness is as relevant to wearing it as the 43mm width.

Water Resistance Detail: All Tissot watch cases undergo several tests, including a water resistance check. Tissot tests the watch's ability to resist impacts and pressure, as well as the penetration of liquids, gas and dust by replicating the real-life conditions in which the watch may find itself.
Superluminova: Ensuring visibility under all conditions is an important goal for Tissot. This is why some timepieces feature a material we call SuperLuminova®. This material is placed on visible parts such as dials and hands, where it functions as a miniature accumulator of reflected light when the watch finds itself in the dark.
Valjoux: The ETA Valjoux calibre is a sturdy, self-winding chronograph movement. The top-of-range model has beautiful finishing touches, such as Geneva waves or circular graining. Designed in the 1970s, its reliability and performance have made it a classic across eras. It is one of the most iconic movements in the world of watch-making
