These Are the Watches You're Looking For: A Star Wars Watch Gift Guide
Sixteen Citizen Star Wars watches for the fan on your holiday list, sorted by side, from $225 to $550.
Every holiday list has one: the person who quotes the movies, owns a lightsaber and is impossible to shop for. Skip the mug. A Citizen Star Wars watch is a gift they will wear every day and show off the first time someone asks about the dial.
Each one hides Star Wars in the details, from a Death Star in the dial to a dark side invitation engraved on the caseback. Underneath, every one is a Citizen: thirteen use light-powered Eco-Drive with no routine battery changes, while three use battery-powered quartz. Many models have 100 m of water resistance, and a few have a sapphire crystal.
We sorted the shelf by side, so you can match the watch to the fan. Picking one out for yourself counts too. Pick a side, and the watch picks itself.

The Dark Side
Evil has never been this wearable.

Flip it over first. The caseback carries Vader's likeness, an invitation to come to the dark side, and an edition number out of 1,977, the year the first film opened. Then turn it back: the dial is built from pieces of his helmet and chest plate, with red and blue accents and a small Imperial symbol. It comes as a boxed set with a collectible pin. The specs: 41 mm black ion-plated steel on a matching bracelet, sapphire crystal, E111 Eco-Drive movement, 100 m of water resistance. Citizen has sold out of this one. Shop the Darth Vader Returns.
Bespin 40th Anniversary, $375

Look closely at the dial. The orange pattern is the carbon-freezing chamber where Han gets frozen, and the blue and red lightsabers at 3 and 9 o'clock are Luke and Vader mid-duel. The caseback carries the anniversary logo, and it is limited to 1,980 pieces, a nod to 1980, the year The Empire Strikes Back hit theaters. The specs: 42 mm gray ion-plated steel on a bracelet, Eco-Drive. Shop the Bespin 40th Anniversary.
Death Star 2, $475

That's no moon, it's a dial. The Death Star sits in layers of black and white, with luminous X-wing artwork and hands styled like lightsabers. Flip it over and the Death Star is on the caseback next to the Star Wars logo. The specs: 41 mm black steel on a bracelet with a push-button fold-over clasp, Eco-Drive. Shop the Death Star 2.
Imperial Battle, $525

The case is a hexagon, a nod to the wing panels of a TIE fighter. On the dial, a swarm of TIE fighters flies in front of the Death Star, all embossed in red and black metal, with the Galactic Empire crest at 12 o'clock. The crest shows up again on the caseback, in case you forgot who is in charge. The specs: new this year, 42 mm gray ion-plated steel, sapphire crystal, J810 Eco-Drive, date window, 100 m of water resistance and a bracelet with a push-button fold-over clasp. It is the only Death Star watch in this guide with sapphire. View the Imperial Battle.
Imperial Stormtrooper, $281.25

The dial wears Maul's black, red and gold, and it comes with a full chronograph to time your next duel. Maul is having a moment: Maul: Shadow Lord, the first Star Wars series to put a villain in the lead, ran on Disney+ this spring and is renewed for a second season. The specs: 44 mm black steel, B612 Eco-Drive, 100 m of water resistance, nylon and leather strap on 22 mm lugs. Shop the Darth Maul chronograph.
Bounty hunters and droids
For the fans who would rather have a job than a destiny.

Check the three sub dials: the Mudhorn symbol, his helmet and a stylized Grogu, all in a row. The tachymeter ring is gold-green, and the caseback carries the Mandalorian creed and horn symbol. This is the way to time a bounty. It launched in May, the month The Mandalorian and Grogu brought Star Wars back to theaters for the first time since 2019. The specs: 44 mm gray ion-plated chronograph, B612 Eco-Drive, 100 m of water resistance, stitched brown leather strap. View the Mandalorian chronograph.
Boba Fett, $296.25

His armor, translated into a dial: a green face, a mythosaur at 12 o'clock and his helmet at the center. Flip it over and the caseback is engraved with his ship, Slave I. The specs: 44 mm silver-tone brushed steel, J810 Eco-Drive, 200 m of water resistance, date window, olive nylon strap on 22 mm lugs. View the Boba Fett.

Fluent in over six million forms of timekeeping. The yellow and black dial is a circuit board, the sub dials double as his eyes, and the colored stitching on the leather strap echoes the wiring. His likeness is etched on the caseback. The specs: 42 mm gold-tone steel, 8725 Eco-Drive, analog day and date, 100 m of water resistance. View the C-3PO Rewired.

A pilot helmet, an X-wing and the Rebel Alliance insignia all turn up among the displays, so the dial reads like a cockpit. The specs: 44 mm silver-tone chronograph on a leather strap, Eco-Drive. Shop the Rebel Pilot.

Press the pushers: they are blue and green, like his lightsabers. One sub dial holds his X-wing, another holds the duel with Vader, and the Rebel Alliance symbol sits at the center of the blue dial. The specs: 44 mm silver-tone case with a blue aluminum bezel, B612 Eco-Drive, 100 m of water resistance, brown leather strap on 22 mm lugs. View the Luke Skywalker chronograph.
Yoda, $225

Look at the hour markers: Yoda's name is spelled out in them, and only another fan will ever notice. The hands and markers are luminous. Wear it, you will. The specs: 42 mm black steel, E111 Eco-Drive, sand-colored dial, CORDURA strap. Shop the Yoda.
Smaller wrists and retro taste: the Tsuno Chronos
Three watches here use Citizen's retro Tsuno Chrono design in a 38 mm steel case on a bracelet, the smallest in the guide. They run on a battery-powered quartz movement rather than Eco-Drive, which is the trade for the compact size and the vintage look.
- Darth Vader Tsuno Chrono, $395: the transformation worked into the dial, with red and green details
- Darth Maul Tsuno Chrono, $395: red and black facial markings across the dial, with yellow details echoing his horns
- R2-D2 Tsuno Chrono, $375: silver panels, blue accents and small flashes of red, the one for the droid person

The Practical Bit (It's Short)
Three small details, then back to the fun.
Size. Cases in this line run from 38 mm to 44 mm. If you do not know the wrist, stay at 42 mm or under: Death Star 2, Jedi Master and Vader Returns (all 41 mm), Yoda, Bespin, Imperial Battle and C-3PO Rewired (42 mm) and the three Tsuno Chronos (38 mm). The Stormtrooper, Darth Maul chronograph, Rebel Pilot, Luke chronograph, Mandalorian chronograph and Boba Fett are 44 mm, which suits a bigger wrist or someone who already likes a big watch.
Power. Thirteen of the sixteen watches in this guide run on Citizen's Eco-Drive, which turns any light into power, with no routine battery changes. The three Tsuno Chronos use a standard quartz battery, a quick job at any watch shop.
Strap. The Jedi Master, Darth Maul chronograph, Luke chronograph and Boba Fett all have 22 mm lugs, so a replacement strap from any maker will fit. Leather and nylon read casual. A steel bracelet, like the one on the Death Star 2, reads dressier. Nine watches here are rated to at least 100 m (Jedi Master, Stormtrooper, Darth Maul chronograph, Luke chronograph, Mandalorian chronograph, C-3PO Rewired, Imperial Battle and Vader Returns at 100 m, and Boba Fett at 200 m), which Citizen rates for swimming, showering and snorkeling.

Which Citizen Star Wars watch makes the best gift?
